Description
ENFIELD A L42A1 7.62 SNIPER RIFLE Ser No V39392
Shaped, brass butt plate with compartment cover. Beech stock, sling attachment, raised cheek comb. Forend plain, half length, barrel band with sling attachment also to front of magazine. Free-floating, hammer-forged, stepped barrel. Blade foresight, machine-finished sight protectors, the barrel at the muzzle end stamped ‘PAT APPLN No 15572/73’, at the breech end on the upper flat ‘CR 1470 D73′ and Birmingham proof marks for 1997. The bolt head with ’19T’ proof mark. Front mount pad with two stake marks, the rear pad only one. The left side of teh action engraved ‘L42A1 D70’, the original ‘T’ and the linished serial number ‘V39392’. The butt stock stamped ‘M47C’, (BSA Shirley production), ‘1945’, ‘TR’, ‘V39392’, ‘**17′. The top of the butt stock also stamped ’19T’, the top of the stock stamped ‘24008’, the scope ser number, the underside ‘F47’. Serial number matched forged scope mount. Scope manufactured by Taylor Hobson & Co as marked, stamped as a ‘TEL. STG. No32. MK3.’ barred out. NSN stamped, ‘V5 1240-99-462’, turrets marked ‘M’ for metres, turrets free moving. Complete with original transit case, marked ‘RIFLE 7.62MM L42A1 V39392 TEL. STRT.STG. L1A1. 24008’, with original RAF movement label. The scope case stamped ‘TELESCOPE STRAIGHT SIGHTING CASED L1A1 1240 99 963 2060 PSMW 1973’ with original label. Cleaning kit, chamber cleaning stick. Converted 1970.

Additional Comments: The finish near intact. Small fine marks on the barrel, magazine housing and cocking handle. The stock with one ding (6mm) otherwise unmarked. The scope and mounts finish intact. The barrel unmarked with some discolouration. The scope case with some marks.
