Description
Chequered butt, richly figured, chequered rounded semi-pistol grip and forend. Plain, concave rib with embellishments to the breech end, engraved ‘HOOTON & JONES, 60 DALE ST LIVERPOOL’, hold-open top lever, automatic safety with ‘SAFE’ inlaid. The action engraved with acanthus scroll enhancements, of particular note to the fences, ‘HOOTON & JONES’ mounted on a scroll. In the manufacturer’s leather case, embossed ‘HEREWARD CLARE LEES’, with label and accessories.
Made for Sir William Hereward Clare Lees, 2nd Bt, 1904 to 1976.

Additional Comments, Light silvering to muzzle, breech and edges of rib. A number of fine, light marks to the barrels. A little original colour remaining on the action below the fences, the engraving little worn. The stock richly figured, some exposed grain and deeper scratches, widely marked. The bores bright with some small frosted patches.
