WESTLEY RICHARDS A RARE FINE 'OVUNDO' SIDEPLATED OVER & UNDER EJECTOR SER NO O1570
Diamond-chequered butt. Richly figured stock, pistol grip with Ebonite end cap, the forend rounded with horn cap, both chequered. Beda foresight, 7mm plain rib engraved ‘WESTLEY RICHARDS 23, CONDUIT ST, LONDON. ‘OVUNDO”. Full length mid-rib, the short rib engraved ‘OVUNDO SYSTEM REGd. No. 354045 / 1913’. The side flats to the barrels with proof marks, the action flats stamped ‘8853/14’ and ‘9410/14’. Treble-grip action, hold-open top lever, manual safety with ‘SAFE’ inlaid in gold. The action, retaining nearly all its original finish, with brushed, satin finish, adorned with acanthus leaves to the fences, the border with intertwined foliage and a symmetrical floriate pattern to the sideplates. Completed 11 Apr 1923 and transferred to the Conduit St. shop. It is suggested as a sample. In 1932 it was adjusted from a single trigger to double and journalled as having been sold to a GWC Drexel.

The finish entire to the barrels with some negligible silvering to the muzzle, beneath the forend and the left short rib. The action retaining much (3/4) of its original colour-hardening with some thinning below the fences and the upper plates. The gold wash to the s thinned. The stock with some deeper scratches to the finish with no obvious damage to the fibres. The forend endcap with some drying. Some scuffing to the butt and heel. The barrel bright with a small frosted area (<1/2") to the lower barrel
