Chequered, well-matched butt plate to highly figured walnut stock with fine, crisp chequering, unusually, shaped for comfort. Nitro-proved chopper lump barrels engraved on the right ‘HOLLAND & HOLLAND’ and left ’98, NEW BOND STREET, LONDON.’ The rib engraved at the breech end with floral scroll merging to acanthus and fine edging to fence. The forend finely chequered, the inlay with acanthus scroll engraving. Hand detachable lock plates with gold wash to edge, gold inlaid cocking indicators, acanthus scrolling throughout surrounding an elaborate cartouche of ‘HOLLAND & HOLLAND’. The underside with a further cartouche of ‘ “ROYAL” SELF-OPENER PATENT ’
