A 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR Ser No 4789;


Hard, rubber butt pad, highly figured, chequered Prince of Wales grip with horn end cap, splinter forend the same, engraved ‘2’. Nitro re-proved barrels with rib engraved ‘J. WOODWARD & SONS. 64. ST. JAMES’S STREET. LONDON. S.W. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH’S FLUID PRESSED STEEL’ and ‘2’ inlaid in gold, the breech delicately engraved.  The action, retaining some original colour, with side clips, castellated fences and removable, blued striker discs, raised cocking indicators, finely adorned with dense acanthus scrolling and a delicately framed cartouche mounting ‘J. WOODWARD & SONS’. In a leather box with accessories.

Foot note: The makers have very kindly confirmed that this was finished in August 1894 for a Capt C.J. Stanton.
