MUSKET A 19TH CENT MUSKET SIDELOCK NVSN;
Heavy, shaped brass butt plate, shaped cheek piece and guard in the Continental style. Unrecognisable engraving worn on top flat. The forend extending to the breech, ramrod with horn end. blade foresight, rear sight absent. Intricate and delicate side lock action. The barrel of different colour and finish to the action indicating a replacement. No rifling evident. Approx .50 cal. It is assessed as being a Jager musket 1830 – 1850 or German or Austrian origin. Very nice piece
